The new Dior Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation is the talk of the town, watch me try it for the first time and see how it looks after 14 hours! I had a good laugh in this video, hope you enjoy it too 🙂

PS: I’m between an NC20 and NC25 right now, for reference.

Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation – First Impressions

Foundation Checklist

Insane list because I’m insane.

Packaging – Glass bottle, 1 fl.ounce
Price – 53USD or 79AUD
Consistency – Very runny, similar to that of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
Colour range – 8 shades in the US, I mixed 010 and 020 to achieve a decent shade match for my NC20-25 skin
Coverage – Anything from ultra sheer to solid medium coverage
Buildable? – Yes, it builds well to a medium coverage without pilling or caking
Finish – Demi matte, so somewhere between a true matte and a satin finish
Tacky or dry – Without an emollient moisturiser and MAC Fix+, it settles to a non-tacky finish
Fragrance – STRONG! Much floral
Application ease – Super easy and quick, one must blend rather quickly but it doesn’t streak
Separation – I didn’t notice any separation, even after 14 hours
Pore Emphasis – Wasn’t kind to the pores on my nose
Emphasis on dry areas – I wasn’t terribly flaky on the day but yes, I imagine this would pick up on dry patches
Flashback test – Minor flashback on a DSLR camera, major flashback on iPhone camera (although even the best of foundations don’t fare well in phone flash scenarios)
Transfer – It does transfer without much encouragement, take note if you are a face toucher
Oxidise – None, from what I could tell
Longevity – Brilliant. Very little fading or sheen after 14 hours.
Settling – It did settle somewhat around my nose and laugh lines, easily remedied with powder

Nail Polish I’m wearing in this video

  1. Karima! I absoulutely love your videos. I have commented many times on you tube. I’m not sure if I have commented much on you site though. But I do read it when I have the time πŸ˜‰
Question: What would be your top Foundations for Brides!? It is big Bridal time in the US and I am one of them. I have combo, slighlty acne prone (mostly little bumps on my forehead). I need something that will not flashback and wont rub off after all of the hugging! Thank you!!
Oh you should do a whole Bridal Tutorial!! That would be so great <3

    1. Hey Brianna πŸ™‚
Thanks for coming to the blog, I respond to every comment here πŸ™‚
My two favourite foundations for photography are Armani Luminous Silk and Makeup Forever HD. The former is a little more emollient and the latter is more satin, but both could work on combo skins as long as you prime in the oily areas and set with a powder.
      xx

  2. Lovely video. Thanks, you saved me some money. I was intrigued by this after trying one of the Nude Air Powders and loving it. What medium coverage, semi matte foundation would you recommend for drier skin with flakiness and some lines? I am fourty now and stuff really stars to settle into the lines around my eyes, even though I do not have that many. And my skin is getting drier too. Please recommend.

    1. Hey Esther,
I haven’t tried the Nude Air Powder but I would like to πŸ™‚ Have you tried Armani Lasting Silk or Koh Gen Do Aqua? Both are kind to any dry patches I may have. They’re satin (not quite demi matte) but if you set either with a powder, you could achieve a matte finish.
      xx

  3. Yay! I love your videos, particularly the first impressions ones! I am currently using this foundation, and I like it pretty well; my skin is normal-leaning-combination (oilier in the t-zone as the weather heats up), and I found the same issues that you did. It seems to kind of settle and crease around my nose, but less so when I use a damp sponge to apply in that area (fingers everywhere else). One DEFINITELY must moisturize before applying this one; if you don’t, it sets weird and looks powdery and not nice! I have to blot at about 4 hours which is pretty typical for me. The scent is somewhat overwhelming, but for the longevity and the way it looks on my skin, I’ll deal with it! I found myself in between shades, as well, but I am currently mixing mine on application with a little of the L’Oreal Lumi Magique primer to lighten it up a bit till I get more sun.

    1. Hey Stephanie πŸ™‚
Glad to hear you’re liking the foundation, I agree with you on all accounts. Must moisturise and not the best shade range but I’ll keep using it (and that says something!)

  4. Great post & video! I adore this foundation. I have found almost all of your findings to be true for me, apart from the β€œnot kind to nose pores” I find it glides over my pores making them far less apparent. This foundation is up there with my personal favourite Chanel perfection lumiere velvet xx

  5. I’m with Esther too! I love your videos- especially first impressions on foundations. I am also forty with dry skin and some (ok many) smile an laugh lines of the fine but persistent variety. I am always on the hunt for a holy grail foundation that is skin like and build able. I would love to have your eagle eyes scan, swatch and review some options! Currently I am trailing the new Bobbi Brown treatment foundation…still undecided.

  6. Love this, Karima! Your personality just shines through so brightly whenever you talk, and this video is no exception. Please do more first impressions and talk through tutorials! Would you be doing a review of the new Cover FX Custom Cover Drops? It sounds so intriguing, but it is half the size (15ml) of a normal foundation. I’m not sure how long that’ll last.

    1. I actually purchased the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops! I swatched at a PR event and they’re uber pigmented (not to be used alone) so I imagine they would last as long as any regular foundation. First impressions video coming up soon!

  7. Thank you Karima for this brilliant & thorough review! I’m quite sensitive to alcohol so that’s a dealbreaker. Likely won’t do well on my skin texture as well. You’ve saved me time & money from doing my own test, I appreciate that.

  8. Lol Karima, that is dedication coming back to report at 4am!! I really like your foundation reviews, I don’t know of any other youtuber who gives such a detailed take. It’s appreciated! I’ve also just ordered RPC in 52! It’s such a gorgeous colour.

  9. Karimaaaaaa!!!
Do you prefer this over Airflash?
Btw you’re looking lively as always. πŸ™‚

    1. I owned it but sold it in a blogsale. It offers a pretty full coverage but unfortunately, looked very dry and sometimes patchy on my skin, regardless of application method. I think it would look much better on a combo/oily skintype, as opposed to my normal/dry skintype.
      xx

  10. absolutely absolutely loveeeee ur videos, this is the first time i stumble on your video and loving it .. thanks for the info .., i just purchase the shade 10 …do more first impressions pleaseee
