Yesterday, a parcel landed on my doorstep. Japanese jargon can only mean an Ichibankao order and in turn, a very excited Karima.
A few long standing lemmings, Addiction Arabian Ruby eyeshadow & Addiction Fudge eyeshadow. An impulse purchase, SUQQU Creamy Glow Lipstick in Saebana #01. Finally, the ever elusive SUQQU Spring Quad in EX-11 Sumiredama.
Just released in Japan and soon to be released in the UK, a few photos of the quad have been floating around the blogosphere (here and here). What intrigued me most about EX-11 was the rumours of complex duochrome shades, undeniably my favourite formula of eyeshadow.
Sumiredama did not disappoint; the lower left shade is complex and multifaceted indeed! A deep plummy shade with blue/violet iridescence in some light, as pictured above…
Yet pewter at certain angles, as pictured here. If you haven’t already abandoned this post to furiously place your order, there is more. Look closely at the mirror reflection above and you’ll notice that the same shade also reflects a purple magenta.
For all you raging taupe lovers, the quad features a neutral taupe shadow which has both warm and cooler intricacies, depending on tilt. Rounded with a warmer pink and a cooler, pale yellow (a beautiful contradiction)- I’d say this piece is the quintessential example of why SUQQU quads are considered unique. An unexpected mix of warm and cool shades that somehow, seem to work in harmonious synergy.
Yes, you can detect a greedy fingerprint (too much excite!) and yes, swatches will be up very soon.
