Looky looky what arrived in the mail….
This is the new and limited edition mineralized blush from MAC (from the Quite Cute collection). Named Sakura, MAC describes the colour as “lavender with pearly magenta heart.” I’m not sure if I 100% agree with that statement, it sure is purple but not quite lavender- a little brighter. Flash washed the colour out, it is definitely a bit stronger and brighter in real life.
I intend on avoiding the magenta heart- I’m looking mainly for a lilac blush. As I’m a little obsessed with lilac blushes, I decided I’d do a comparison between my cool pink/purple blushes. Unfortunately, I forgot one of my truest lilac blushes- Fyrinnae Seduce (many thanks to my good friend Nonni <3). I’ll do a swatch of that blush a little later on.

Those who thought Katie was too cool for them- run. Sakura makes even Katie look warm. Pigment wise, Illamasqua Katie has the strongest pigment, followed by MAC Sakura and then Shu 32E. I feel as though the Shu is the most cool toned blush, followed by Sakura and then Katie.
And ofcourse, swatches 🙂

In these swatches, it becomes obvious that Sakura is less lavender and more purple. I haven’t had the time to try Sakura on my face yet, but I’ll definitely post pictures when I finally do try it. Most blushes (even apricot toned) tend to pull pink on me, so I’m curious to see how this will look!
How do you feel about lilac blushes?
