AGAIN, a brand that I intended on including in my upcoming natural skincare edit but the products are just so damn phenomenal that I couldn’t wait. Meet MV Organic Skincare, which has a cult following among fashion and beauty insiders – think Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Emma Watson. This is no joke.

New Favourite Skincare – MV Skincare + GIVEAWAY!

Let’s talk about the MV Skincare philosophy because it’s awesome. In brief:

  •  The founder Sharon McGlinchey is a skincare veteran, the brand is centred around treating skincare conditions like rosacea and eczema.
  • The brand consists of a small range of signature products – Sharon likens it to signature pieces within a wardrobe for versatility and simplicity (a breath of fresh air in a saturated market).
  • The ingredient lists are comprised of fewer ingredients in higher concentrations and highest qualities available (NB: ingredients lists are on the website).
  • No alcohol, ever. Not as a base nor as a preservative.

No bogus active ingredients. No questionable science. No elaborate marketing facades. It’s just straight forward goodness without the BS, y’know? I like that.

MV Skincare – Gentle Cream Cleanser

New Favourite Skincare – MV Skincare + GIVEAWAY!

The MV Gentle Cream Cleanser is a thick cream that feels waxy as opposed to oily (not the best description but bear with me). I take a pump or two and disperse it on the face, it doesn’t seem to go very far or exhibit much slip but add a few drops of water and the product emulsifies to a milk consistency; at this point you can do the whole facial massage and work the product into the skin.

Remove with a cloth and feel the magic unfold: ultra clean skin that leaves no residue whatsoever. Squeaky skin is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine (I know, I know) and the MV Cream Cleanser offers the tiniest bit of squeak that curbs my craving for foaming cleansers. No need to double cleanse or faff about with a second gel cleanser, this cream is a one-stop cleansing solution.

It removes daily makeup perfectly but if I’ve filmed a full-on tutorial, I’ll reach for something oilier to break down heavy eye makeup. It has a faint citrus scent courtesy of the mandarin oil but must be in low concentrations or else my eyes would complain.
Just… blown away. Will repurchase again and again.

MV Skincare – Energizing 9 Oil Skin Tonic

New Favourite Skincare – MV Skincare + GIVEAWAY!

This oil has multiple purposes, which could get confusing. From what I gather, it’s designed to be used as a detox treatment post cleansing; press the oil into the skin and then take a warm cloth and compress for ultimate absorption. I’m not a big believer in detox (don’t hurt me) but I have used this as a night time oil and it’s lovely.

Out of the products reviewed in this post, the Tonic seems to have the strongest concentration of essential oils so if you’re a die hard aromatherapy addict, this will float all your boats.

MV Skincare – Rose Hydrating Mist

New Favourite Skincare – MV Skincare + GIVEAWAY!

In the past, I’ve been rather cynical of mists but I’ve come around and this mist actually has purpose in the MV regimen (as opposed to being a fluffy accessory); Sharon recommends a good spritz post cleansing to allow more slip to massage the MV oils or moisturisers (thick and concentrated alone). I’ve always applied my moisturisers to damp skin so this makes perfect sense to me!

A greater ratio of mist to moisturiser provides a thinner lotion better suited to oilier skin types, it’s JUST SO SIMPLE.
Oh! It also smells like a real rose garden, stunning.

MV Skincare – Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser

New Favourite Skincare – MV Skincare + GIVEAWAY!

This is the cult product within the range and I can absolutely see why, it just performs. After a good dousing of the Rose Hydrating Mist, I’ll take half a pump of the thick rose-scented goodness and slather onto the face, neck and chest. You don’t need much at all, I once made the mistake of taking a full pump which comfortably serviced my entire upper body (my belly got the royal treatment!).

Back to performance: seriously quenching and ultra soothing on redness, my skin has never looked or felt this balanced. I’m wary of moisturisers that ‘suit all skin types’ but as per MV Skincare recommendations, a greater ratio of hydrating mist for oily skins or mix in a few drops of oil for dry skins, it’s truly an all rounder.

Despite maximum hydration value, the finish isn’t greasy or shiny in the least so it makes for a superb base for makeup – foundation glides on.
I love this, did you get that? I think they get it, Karima.

MV Skincare – Pure Jojoba

New Favourite Skincare – MV Skincare + GIVEAWAY!

A few brands offer Jojoba but I trust that MV Skincare offers the highest grade (I do, I trust this brand). Jojoba is frequently cited as the closest alternative to natural skin sebum, so it’s easily welcomed and absorbed. It has a thin consistency, a slightly nutty (?) scent and leaves a sheen on the skin so I prefer to use this in the evening.

Alternatively, I’ll add a few drops to the Rose Protective Moisturiser if my face is feeling particularly parched although I’m more inclined to use a Rosehip Oil – richer yet absorbs entirely (I will be purchasing the MV Skincare Rose Plus Booster as a gift… to me from me).

MV Skincare – Hand Rescue

New Favourite Skincare – MV Skincare + GIVEAWAY!

This will sound ridiculous but hear me out: I’ve never used a product that makes me as happy as this hand cream. Imagine a ginormous flourless orange cake – this hand cream is like devouring the whole thing in one sitting. Synthetic fragrances do nothing for me but this is all natural benzoin and honeysuckle, how that amounts to orange cake is beyond me.

During exam season, I would cup my hands over my face and breath deeply, all the stress washes away and I’m just… happier? I don’t know what kind of magic this is but I will buy some as gifts for special people so they too can devour orange cakes and feel happy.
PS: it’s also an incredible hand cream, very rich yet absorbs entirely. Ha.

Tangible Results

I’ve used the MV Skincare exclusively for 3 months or so and dehydration issues have almost entirely subsided. Previously foundation clung onto some flakiness and uneven texture around the crevice of the nose – gone. Another strange patch of congestion on the left side of my chin (wut) has cleared up also. I’ve often complained about my sporadic redness on my nose and cheeks, I’m definitely feeling less ‘heat’ in my skin and the complexion is all round brighter. My skin looks and feels really damn healthy.

Overall

Clearly I’m excited, my skin is excited. Yes, these products were sent to me and no, I am not compensated for this post. My complexion is at its best right now and my skincare is the only element to have changed. In particular, the products I will be repurchase as soon as they are depleted: The Gentle Cream Cleanser, Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser and Hand Rescue. Expensive but for me, the results are wholeheartedly worthwhile.

  1. Just wanted to say I absolutely adore your blog, I really love how you break things down in a clear, no bullshit way, so thank you for that! It’s also good to hear that dry skin/flakiness can be tamed with MV Skincare, I’ll have to give them a better chance this year.

  2. I love organic skin care! I wish I had more organic skin care products available on my local market. I basically can’t find those that would be perfect to me- still in research for the perfect ones! I’d love to win this! One of the reasons in plus is I love roses and rose-based skin care. It smells and feels heaven in bloom! 🙂
    Thank you for this chance!
    Happy New Year! 🙂

    1. Hey Aurica,
The good news is that natural and organic skincare is on the rise, Cult Beauty is a brilliant store for no nasty skincare, and they ship internationally 🙂
Best of luck for the giveaway!
      xx

  3. Great post! I was wondering which rosehip oil you usually use? I’m thinking getting the Pai brand vs regular health sore rosehip. Thanks!

  4. Hey Karima, I know you’ll probably cover this in your skincare post, but I’m curious to know what sunscreen you use day-to-day 🙂

  5. Hey Karima, I know you’ll probably cover this in your skincare post, but I’m curious to know what sunscreen you use day-to-day 🙂 This range sounds lovely– I’m always cautious of scented products because so many experts say fragrances are the big bad wolf of skincare, but nothing beats a product that smells so good it’s a joy to use!

  6. Hi Karima, I want to second Rachel’s question. I assume you use these products in the evening. What do you use in the morning? Do you have a sunscreen you use on its own or one you put over a moistuizer?
Lots of Love from the UK and a very Happy New Year. Esther

    1. I generally don’t use a cleanser that requires a cloth in the morning, recently I’ve been alternating Aurelia’s Refine and Polish (review here: http://www.shamelessfripperies.com/video/get-party-ready-beauty-essentials/) or just a splash of water.

I follow with the MV Rose Protective Moisturiser and if I anticipate sun exposure, the SUQQU sunscreen (although I’m not entirely satisfied with it, still looking for a better alternative).

      xx

  7. Karima, what a fabulous review! I’ve used these products too and I can second that they are divine! I’m an eczema sufferer and MV is so gentle, free from ‘crap’ and nourishing that my skin is as good as normal while using them. They are definitely worth the investment if anyone is contemplating MV 🙂

  8. Love your reviews as I had not heard of some brands before! Would love some hair care product reviews too and how to get your heels ready for sandals weather!

  9. I have become very interested in skincare and trust your opinion. So I will be checking out this brand.
I wish we had the same skin type so I could just copy your skincare routine. 🙂

  10. I love good skincare as much as the next person but the price tag on these are exorbitant. I know you’re in Australia and things are more expensive down there but I’m looking at the U.S. prices MV posted on their site. The Engerizing 9 Oil Skin Tonic) costs $90 for 2.2oz of product and the ingredients used are not expensive at all, especially the carrier oils.

I prefer Garden of Wisdom (www.gardenofwisdom.com), they sell both skincare and raw ingredients for those of us to who like to mix our own facial oils and such. And no, I’m not affiliated with them. I’ve used their products for the past five years and have looked at other “natural” skincare companies just to compare products and prices. They’re based in the U.S. but they do ship world wide.

Feel free to email me if you would like to have an in-depth discussion on this topic but I would hate for people to spend so much money when there are cheaper (and same level of quality) products/ingredients elsewhere.

    1. Hey Eva,
I am familiar with Garden of Wisdom, I tried some of their products and I can only speak personally, but I didn’t experience the same results as I have with MV.
Everyone has a different price threshold for skincare (and makeup etc) and it all depends on what works for you. I’m willing to pay for results and avoid trial and error.
      xx

  11. I’ve heard about these products and they sound incredible! The rose moisturizer, jojoba and mist have definitely piqued my interest 😉

    Happy new year 🙂

  12. I’ve wanted to try mv organics for forever but its just so expensive! This is the best giveaway you have done so far!

  13. Karima I just love the way you write! I would really love to try these, but they’re so expensive! Would love to win the giveaway, but at the same time, if I did, I’d probably want to repurchase which would be deadly! xxx

  14. I’ve just discovered your blog from the MV Organics fb page, thank you for the chance to win some goodies 🙂
I’m definitely going to be purchasing something from their range as I have Rosacea and from what I’ve been reading, the products have many anti- inflammatory properties 🙂

    1. Hey Diana!
Welcome to the Shamfrip 🙂 I don’t have rosacea but I have ‘high colour’ (prone to flushing) and I definitely feel as though this skincare routine has minimised my surface redness. Hopefully you love the products as much as I do!
      xx

  15. Hello, this is Giorgia from Italy 🙂 they don’t sell those beautiful products here!! I’ve just entered this giveaway so I hope I’m lucky enough to win 😛
By the way, THANK YOU for all this and your videos are really good!!
    Giorgia

  16. Sorry, what do I have to do after filling in the Rafflecopter Widget? I’ve got 9 entries, but nothing seems to happen.. or probably it’s just me that don’t understand 😛 <3

  17. Hello Karima! You are my youtube inspiration.. you seem so friendly and genuine which is hard to find in a beauty blogger…I like that you will say when you dislike something because I’ve bought so many things from others recommendations and just wonder if they praised them because they received the item for free…but every single recommendation from you has been a hit…so I know these products will be amazing as well 🙂

  18. I know this makes no sense but I’m so disappointed I didn’t win. I wanted these products so bad that even though it’s absolutely illogical, there was a little part of me that really thought I might win. As if my deep desire to win these items would somehow leave the universe no choice but to make it happen. It’so tragically funny.
This is not like me at all. First of all I’m not a teenager. And I never really wish to win giveaways. I guess I just really need good skincare and it’s hard to find it at an affordable price. Bummer.

    1. Sorry, Abir! I wish I could give to all my readers but sadly, that’s not possible 🙁
If you’re looking for products in a similar vein at a more affordable price, can I recommend Trilogy? Their Rosehip oil is my absolute fave!
      xx

  19. I had a facial with Sharon, founder of MV organics today, and can’t speak highly enough about the high quality of the products – and of course the facial was amazing. Australian price point I think the products are very very reasonable.
