I stumbled across something amusing today and my significant other didn’t seem to understand, so I thought I would share it with you guys.

Skincare Update

I don’t know if I was planning to do an empties post or WHAT but if this isn’t a testament to how much I love my current skincare routine, I don’t know what is. The majority of these are empty.

Chantecaille Vital Essence: Video review here. A rather basic hydrating serum with a ouchy price tag, I keep purchasing this because: it’s very hydrating, it doesn’t cause any congestion and it really enhances the way foundation looks on my skin. Every time I’ve tried omitting this from my routine, my base makeup looks flaky and dehydrated so I grumble and continue dishing out the cash.

La Roche Posay Lipikar Syndet: Video review here. A very affordable cleanser that does everything a cleanser should do; remove grime without stripping my normal skin. I like that this gel has a light foaming action because I’m a terrible person and don’t hurt me. Australians, this is now available at Priceline!

FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil: Video review here. Still my favourite cleansing oil, FANCL seems to rinse cleaner than the other cleansing oils on the market. Breaks down long wearing makeup and sunscreen like nothing else. A bit tricky to find, I purchase this from a local Japanese cosmetics store.

I can throw out my trash now, yes? Cool.

  1. Karima!

I checked the Chantecaille Vital Essence and youch, the price! Well, its almost the same as my Lancome Visionnaire which I’m waiting to finish so I can replace it!! Thanks for introducing me to this one – will look into this as replacement for my Lancome skincare.

  2. Really want to try the chantecaille .. Bought the fancl cleanser on your recommendation a while and love it ! I bought it overseas though , what’s the name of the store you buy it from here ? šŸ™‚

    1. Glad you love it the Fancl! It’s a good one šŸ™‚ If you’re in Sydney, there is a Japanese cosmetics store on George St. I think it’s opposite Capital Square? They charge a markup (I think I paid 60AUD) but what can y’do! x

  3. Nice job, Karima! That’s some true love you got going there. I tried a sample of Fancl cleansing oil and it is so nice. I’m bummed they’ve reformulated again. Why reformulate perfectly fine product, why?

  4. I recently checked out the Fancl cleansing oil at a local asian store but it seemed like it was being sold at a huge markup – $68CDN per bottle! But I definitely want to check it out so I’ll try to buy it online.

    1. I know right? I purchase locally at a markup too, I think I paid 60AUD but it could have been more. Let me know if you find a convenient place to buy online! x

  5. No I’m from Melbourne so not sure where I can get it from here. Im going to Singapore in December, I have half a bottle left and am hoping it will last til then – will just stock up then I think !

  6. These products sound great, but I do have a word of advice for girls without extra money: using a bar of soap for sensitive skin and a washcloth to wash your face morning and night combined with a light face cream at night completely does the trick for me!

    1. Hey Alex šŸ˜€
Chantecaille Vital Essence lasts me 6-8 months with daily use. The jumbo pump bottle of La Roche Posay Lipikar Syndet lasts me a solid year. And Fancl I use only when required, perhaps 3 times a week and I go through a bottle in about 3-4 months šŸ™‚
