A speedy full face of makeup & hair in under 7 minutes because realistically, we don’t always have 40 minutes to get ready 😉

Hello, everyone. Today, I'm going to be showing you one variation of my speed hair and makeup. I do this when I'm in a huge rush, i.e., all the time because I'm always late. I am that person. I'm so sorry. Sometimes I just do mascara and concealer but today we'ere going to be optimistic and do a full face. I start out with a bit of concealer, something not too light reflective so it can be used on the face and under the eyes. I'm absolutely loving this Dior Skin Nude concealer. Nobody talks about this. Why? It's awesome. Admittedly, not ideal for the under eye because the coverage is minimal, but I love it for around the crevice of the nose because it doesn't pick up any texture or flaky patches. The consistency is rather emollient, so I'm using that under the eyes and to neutralize any redness on the nose. Recently, I rediscovered my MAC mineralized skin finish. I've forgotten how much I really like this product. Essentially, it's a sheer coverage powder and I'm lightly dusting that pretty much all over the face. This will even out the rest my skin tone, set the concealer and prevent any shine from forming throughout the day.

With a smaller brush, I'm using the same powder to set my under eye concealer and this bumps up the coverage it had and with that same small brush, I'm also dabbing a bit more powder over this post blemish mark, which has been here forever, till death do us part, but a little extra powder will diffuse it further. I'm spritzing my brow brush with a bit MAC Fix Plus to amp up the pigmentation of my brow powder but water works just as well here. I found that brow powder is much faster than brow pen or brow pencil or what have you. It's also more forgiving so precision isn't paramount. Honestly, I don't possess any precision until about 1 pm and two caffeinated beverages so I'm not aiming for perfection here, just extending my tail a little bit and filling in that bald spot.

When I was younger, I never filled in my brows and there are pictures to prove it. So now, they are absolutely a priority even when I'm in a rush. Some quick brow gel to set them brows in to place and on to the eyes. I'm using Maybelline Bad to the Bronze. Yehey! Drugstore. I love this one for everyday because you can apply with your fingers. It's so easy to blend and impossible to get wrong. Since it's a cream eye shadow there isn't any fall out because ain't nobody got time for that when you're in a rush. I'm just dabbing that all over the mobile lids for a little bit of color and a little bit of iridescence.

In the morning, my eyes are so damn puffy so I need to contour my crease a little so that they actually looks like I have a socket. I tend to reach for a contour powder because it's not as pigmented as an eye shadow. I avoid super pigmented products when I'm doing speed make up because I get fixated on the blending and then I'm gone, lost in my world of perfect gradients. And my friends and my family, they're calling me and they're angry. As you can see in this video, if I'm not using my fingers, I opt for a bigger and a fluffier brush because they blend as they apply and this is a really great tip for beginners.

My product presentation in this video is horrendous but that's an eyeliner that I'm shaking around there and I'm going to tight line. Huge fan of tightlining. It takes a few seconds and defines the eyes, makes the lashes look thicker. I tend to concentrate this on the outer tight line. I love bushy lashes everyday so I use mascara on the top and the bottom lashes. When I'm rushing, I always managed to get mascara on my skin. And today is no exception. Quick tip, do not attempt to correct that straight away. Wait until the end of your makeup. The mascara will dry and it will flake off the skin instead smudging. It makes life a hell of a lot easier. I'm adding a bit of blush today. I don't always do this but today for you I am.

I'm using a softly pigmented blush so that I'm less likely to over apply, and again using a big and floppy brush for a diffuse color. I switch up my lip color every single day and I quite like to add a bolder lip to an understated face so that I can fool everyone into thinking that I actually put in a bit of effort. Love Stains, they hang around forever and this one has a glossy finish. It's actually a vibrant pink so you can build it up for the evenings but if you apply quite lightly then it's sort of a berry shade. So that's the makeup done.

For hair, this is pretty much the quickest and the easiest hairdo I know of aside from a ponytail. I prefer to keep heat processing to a minimum so I part my hair in the middle or you could part it on the side or whatever you prefer and I aimed to get the face framing layers right. I don't see the back of my head. I don't care what's going on back there. I'll take a small section on the hairline and using a hair straightener I mold the hair so it flicks away from my face. I take another section on the hair part and do the same this will tame the fly aways and impart some glossiness. You can see that I bend the hair straightener at the roots. I find that this technique results in a little bit more volume. Some days, I do this perfectly and other days, I look a bit like bugs bunny. Today is one of those latter days but you know I'm into that. Most of my blog pictures consist of these sort of hairstyling and nothing more because I'm just an absolute hair noob.

I finished off with all Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. This is just a good hair day in a bottle. Lots of texture, lots of volume. It makes my hair far more obedient. Like dry shampoo, it also refreshes second day hair but unlike dry shampoo, I find this product is totally weightless and it doesn't make my hair feel gritty or dirty because in my opinion there's nothing worse. The only downside is that the results don't last all day so I should probably buy a little mini one for my hand bag. I spray it mostly at the roots and I finished off with the bit at the middle lengths for good measure.

Before I forget, I'm going to clean up those stray bits of mascara with a q-tip. They flake off easily, no smudging at all. And there you have may speed hair makeup. This took me a little bit over 6 minutes on camera. We timed me, but I can generally do it in five. I would like to know, what does your speed hair and makeup consist of? What does it look like? How long does it take you? Let me know in the comment section below and I have to run. Legitimately in a rush and I'm not wearing any pants. Is that too much information? We're all friends here. See guys very soon. B-bye.

  1. Ha Ha! Fun video Karima. I’m going to try my sculpting powder for contour – excellent idea! My speed make-up is almost identical to yours except I use 3Lab BB Cream where you use powder. It’s hard for me to use powder as it settles into all my forehead lines (and eye lines, and etc lines, and, and, and). I loved that you included hair styling in the vid. I’m going to try this and see how it works for my hair.

    1. Contours are my go-to for crease work, the neutral shade works well and they create a realistic shadow (puffy eyes, need). All my blog pictures are just front layer styling – once you master it, it’s an easy casual hair-do. xx

  2. (More πŸ™‚ )
Where you use the Maybelline cream eye shadow, I use JUST my Tom Ford eye shadow primer/powder duo with something in the crease as you’ve done. Or I use either RBR long lasting Cream Eyeshadow in Chiffon Ringlet (highly highly recommend this – easy to apply and very long lasting) or Ellis Faas in E109 (I don’t know why they call this “Creamy White”. It’s not even remotely White).
All three of these options are very long lasting. πŸ™‚

    1. I love it. It is a superior product. Nothing else (for me) has even come close. Other eye primers I have tried make it too difficult to apply eyeshadow on top of them. (Urban Decay (and NARS) – I’m looking at you). And other primers either don’t work or feel uncomfortable on my skin. This primer makes it EASIER to apply eyeshadow. And I also use the powder to set the concealer under my eyes.

      1. HMMM very intriguing, I haven’t seen this on Australian counters but I’ll try track it down (aussie-people-problems). Thanks for enlightening me! xx

  3. LOL! πŸ™‚ You are too adorable. I love this video. And you are absolutely beautiful without a lick of makeup of course.
I really like the idea of doing the front of the hair (and not the whole thing) and then just volumizing everything to finish. This is fabulous! I shall need to try this when I am running late (which is all the time)

  4. You are so funny Karima, I loved this video ! I am in a rush pretty much EVERY morning because there is nothing I like more than sleeping ! Isn’t it the best thing in the world to do??

It takes me slightly longer than you – about 10 minutes – to do my makeup in the morning. But that’s mostly because I am so crap at applying mascara. If I do it in a rush I end up with mascara up to my forehead!

Then to save a few minutes I always have brow products and lipstick in my bag and I just do that when I arrive at work πŸ™‚ Sometimes I just do my makeup at work if I’ve overslept… Of course I scare everyone on the tube but that’s good, it gives me more space to breathe!

    1. Sleeping is my favourite thing to do, always. LOL @ scaring people on the tube, the other day I went to the post office wearing P50 (the stinky exfoliant toner that I’m going to review soon) and people were SERIOUSLY inching away from me. I must stank so bad.
      xx

      1. I know right?! I tend to use it in the evening only because of the stink factor but so far, I’m really enjoying it (and I rarely change my skincare routine, unless it’s something revolutionary). xx

  5. LOVE THIS VIDEO!
Haha at time I attempt to do speed makeup before work if I find it hard to get out of bed in the early morning (I mean like 05:15 instead of 05:00). I do armani maestro or a light handed sunday riley primer as base, then if i got few more mins, I will do my brow+-mascara+-eyeliner (I wear glasses normally to work so eye makeup sort of can be missed behind my black frame lol), then contour , a paler forgiving blush, t-zone highlight, and lip.
And yes, I am really loving my KA sculpting powder (Thanks for your intro of this product), and I FINALLY got my hand onto a chanel notorious powder!!!!
Blush-wise, armani sheer#2 or chanel creme le blush or armani fluid blush will do the job.
Into lip products lately and find it harder to decide on a lip product thou lol

    1. Hey Yukari! Sounds like you achieve a full face in a rush, too πŸ™‚
Love KA Sculpting and Chanel Notorious- do you prefer one over the other? xx
