  1. Hello Karima!
I really need your help, since you seem to be full of expirience when it comes to chemical exfoliation.
So: My face got extremely sensitive a few weeks back, it would hurt if I touched it, as if I had major sunburns all over my face (and body) – so I simplified my skincare routine. I ditched the moisturiser, all of the alcohol-filled toners, mists, scrubs, everything scented etc. and started using the thing that has always saved my skin, Lipikar Syndet, alone. My skin calmed down, It looks and feels healthy and happy again, but because I stopped exfoliating (and moisturising) my skin I seemed to have built up some sort of a sand paper situation – the texture of my skin isn’t as refined as I’d want it to be. I am so afraid of using anithyng abrasive or greasy, or anything that could throw my skin out of ballance (again). I think a mild chemical exfoliant (that I could gradually introduce into my routine) could be my best option, because in the past i’ve found that physical scrubs can leave tiny cuts (?!) in my skin. But I have never used any sort of a peel or acid, could you recomend something?
I’m 15 years old, my skin is normal, thin and very sensitive to random things (sun block AND sun – what the duck?). It’s also kinda prone to dehydration and excema, and occasional hormonal (or stress related) brakeouts.
Also, I’m terribly sorry for any mistakes, I’m not a native speaker.
    Thank you, Didi

    1. Not Karima (obviously ;)), but…

You may like the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. They contain glycolic and lactic acid, along with some hyaluronic acid (great for retaining moisture), they are alcohol-free and fragrance-free, and I think the entire line is friendly to sensitive skin.

Meanwhile, what products were you using when your skin reacted like it did?

      1. Hello,
thank you, I have heard of them, and I belive Karima was using them as well, I’ll give them a try. I was using the La roche posay Lipikar syndet as a wace and body wash (not to be blamed – it’s the only thing my skin tolerates), then the Thayers organic Which hazel as a toner and the Dr. hauschka Rose day cream light. And then, once a week I used the Le Couvent des Minimes Face polishing cream (the sales woman in the department store said this is the most gentle exfoliant they have to offer) and which ever Lush mask I had in the rotation. I think that all of those products were too fragranced, my skin sometimes develops sensitvity even to perfumes (weird). But, I think it could’ve been due to stress (school) and extremely dry winter air, also the static in clothes and such.
And also, just as an amusing fact, my skin reacts to Bioderma. I mean… I don’t even… what. Nobody reacts to Bioderma. But my skin gets very red and blotchy and irritated.
And I’m not allergic to anything, I’ve been tested for both cosmetic and food allergies, with negative results.
I guess I’m just blessed with paper thin hyper sensitive skin.

      2. Ouch! 🙁 Yeah, lots of stuff can do a number on the face (stress, hormones, weather). It does sound like, for you, a more minimal, fragrance-free routine may work better.

    2. I agree with Shelly below, the First Aid Facial Radiance Pads may work for you. At the beginning, you can leave the solution on for 10 minutes then rinse. If your skin responds well, you can up the time.
      xx

      1. Think everyone was really excited because there was no stock left in the Target I visited, lol. Was nice to see the testers at least.

  2. Karima have you tried the Kevyn Aucoin scultping powder in light? I’d be interested to see i in action, as I find the medium shade needs a very light hand, and I feel like the light shade might be easier to work with.
