So… it was my birthday and I got stuff. I made a video to tell you guise about it (but mostly to say hi!).

Hey, you. Today, I'm doing something really casual. I'm going to show you the things that I acquired in my birthday month. In my mind, my birthday expands for a month because I'm actually a four-year-old stuck in this adult body and it is an everyday struggle. If you see something in this video that interest you, by all means leave me a comment and I will try to include it in a tutorial for you.

I will start off with my Selfridges order first. If you didn't know already, Selfridges, the UK store now ships internationally. So it's 25 pounds to both Australia and the US, which sounds expensive, right, because it is. But if you recall, there is a 20% VAT reduction upon check out so if you buy enough, you actually breakeven and I bought plenty and I didn't pay any shipping at all. So that is my justification. It comes in a big box, or mine was big anyway, with a canary yellow lining. I appreciate these things. And I try to get things that I couldn't get anywhere else online. So Charlotte Tilbury and SUQQU.

Charlotte Tilbury, not really a brand that I was interested in initially. I am just inherently suspicious of names attached to brands. It's totally irrational but I've heard that the eye shadow sticks were amazing. So I decided to get one for science. Nek minnit, I have four in my cart. I got amethyst aphrodisiac, amber haze, smokey emerald and black diamond. Based on my very limited use of these, I'll give you my first impression. They are really smooth, really pigmented and really creamy. They are not absolutely fool proof to blend. I would just throw that out there.

I think my favorite is amethyst aphrodisiac which has a plumy purpose base with lots of really complex shimmers. It has peach shimmers and lime shimmers and a little bit of cornflower. It's very beautiful. I think I probably could have given black diamonds a miss. The color isn't as complex as the rest. It doesn't apply smoothly and it kind of reminds me of Mirifique by Chanel, the Illusion D'Ombre. It's very similar. I think that smokey emerald apply best, very smooth. And I'd say amber haze is the most wearable color. So I'm very happy to own these and I'm looking forward to playing around with them.

Next, I got some SUQQU. I bought the eyebrow pen in brown. You guys know how I love these. I've used it in so many tutorials. It is just a fantastic product for those who are blessed with great brows or those of us who have perhaps sparse brows, everyone can use it. And if you have any problem with your eyebrow product migrating, this stuff is like shocky. I actually struggled to remove. I have brows for days literally. I also got a SUQQU bright up lipstick, which replaces the creamy glow formula. And I'm not really sure how I feel about this yet, I think I prefer the creamy glow formula but we would just have to wait and see.

I also got a SUQQU blusher. I just thought that this was really a pretty combination of colors and I've never owned a SUQQU blush before, I thought I would give it a go. The brush included is very soft. Finally from SUQQU, I got this powder foundation. Yeah, I don't own many powder foundations. I thought that I would just expand my powder foundation stash. The next product that I acquired in my birthday month I'm actually the most excited about. This is the Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer. And I purchased these again because Lisa Eldridge is in the video and I just notice it seem really interesting, and I'm so impressed. This is my favorite find of 2013 and I do not say that lightly. I won't talk about it too much in depth because I do have a blogpost review which I'll link somewhere here that gives all the before and after shots. So go there if you would like to hear a little bit more about it.

The next product is by Terry Rouge Terrybly and I've spoken about this before. These are my favorite formula of lipstick and I'm well on my way to completing my entire collection. This one is Carnal Attraction. I'll swatch it for you. It's this beautiful sort of brightened berry plum. It's a semi-matte but it's still creamy and it never sort of cracks on the lips. It's wonderful for fall and the formula is absolutely beautiful. What would a birthday whole be without some Rouge Bunny Rouge. I am absolutely in love with this line. You probably noticed. I used them in a lot of my tutorials because I know that the products really perform. And that's great when you have a model in because I don't really want to have her there for three hours while I try to blend the tricky eye shadows. So I love the brand.

I picked a few long time lemmings, this lipstick, which is called Word of Mouth. And it is sort of muted strawberry shade, another really good autumn or fall shade. I also picked up the retractable liner in Lola. This is a brown shade but I also have the black shade. These are terrific for the water line. I use it to tight line my upper lash line and it's fantastic because it doesn't smear or migrate or even transfer to the lower lash line, which is great because I like to wear a nude on my lower lash line, like today and it never sort of gets muddy on me. So fantastic if you're looking for a pencil for the water line, Rouge Bunny Rouge retractable are the best in my opinion.

I also picked up this uh, beautiful blush. This is Orpheline which is a bright in coral shade. I'm trying to expand my blush collection. Today, I'm actually wearing Rouge Bunny Rouge blush. It is Starina, which is an oldie but a goodie. It's sort of pastel biscuity coral shade, and this is fantastic if you have very fair skin because it gives you that peaches and cream complexion, really pretty. My next purchase was a practical or practical make up purchase. I got a bunch of Dermablend products. I got the fluid corrective and the cream stick. My shade is in opal and I'm about an NC20 to 25 for reference. So these are my shades but I also purchased a variety of shades to use on models and what not.

So I am hoping to compare these to the Kevyn Aucoin's Essential Skin Enhancer which as you guys know I love to bits. I'm still kind of experimenting with them so I will get back to you. I also picked up the Vichy Dermablend setting powder just for good measure. I also picked up some pamper products, Kai Fragrance. I have been familiar with the brand for years. I absolutely adore their fragrance. It smells like somewhere I would rather be. It's gardenia and white flower, really beautiful, and since it's now going in to summer here, well, you wouldn't know from the weather outside, but it's meant to be going in to summer, I thought that I would address the scaliness going on in my body, so really beautiful. It makes the whole body feel like silk. It leaves a very light film so it's fantastic if like me you have chronically dry body skin. I don't even need to moisturize after this, and the scent lingers. I smell freaking amazing.

I also picked up from Kai the Travel Set by Kai which has a selection of shampoos, conditioners, body lotions because I'm going to New York in a month and a half. So yeah, I thought that this would be convenient and I might as well smell good while I'm at it. Okay, my last mention of today in my birthday acquisitions was actually a gift. It is an ostrich pillow! Oh no. An ostrich pillow! Let me give you some background information on this so that it doesn't seem so absurd. I am the biggest napper ever. I nap every single day. Is that a medical condition? I don't even know but plane, train, I'd probably sleep in your couch when you weren't looking.

So obviously, my boyfriend knows me way too well so he got me a pillow that covers your eyes and your ears and just leaves your mouth open so that you can sleep everywhere and anywhere. I think that that is genius. I think this is genius. And that, guys, is the end of my birthday acquisitions video. Perhaps a little excessive, I don't know but it's my birthday. I'll buy if I want to. Can't deny that I want to. I got Drake in my head now. I hope you'll have a wonderful day and I'll see you very soon. B-bye.

  1. Hope you had a WONDEFUL birthday!!!

OMG i’m totally jelly right now, what an AWESOME haul!
btw i can’t stop laughing. ha ha ha…its the creepiest pillow i’ve ever seen. (^-^)

  2. Happy Birth month Karima!
The Suqqu blusher set looks awesome! Please will you do a review post on it when you’ve had a chance to play with it a bit? Love from the UK.

  3. Happy Birthday! I just did a major beauty haul through an American mail forwarding website and decided to get the Sunday Riley primer after all after reading so many raves (even though I’m an NC15, eeek!) I did read that some other NC15 people made it work, though. So I’m hoping for the best!

    1. I think you’ll be able to make it work, since it’s so sheer. You can add a dot of a lighter foundation shade (if you own one) to amp up the coverage a tad and shade-correct. x

    1. Hey there! I love and use both. I tend to go for the powder when I’m in a rush or want a very soft brow. Otherwise, I tend to gravitate towards the pen because it gives me a crisper tail.
      Hope this helps šŸ™‚
