  1. Hi Karima, I’ve noticed that you mixed your true match and bourjois foundation. I was really curious how that showed up in photography, particularly flash photography…. Your eyes looked beautiful, happy birthday πŸ™‚

  2. Hi Karima! Happy Birthday!!!
My own birthday party look was done 10 minutes before anyone arrived. I messed up the eyeliner on one side so just went over both eyes with gel and ended up with some crazy dramatic wings.
I was wondering if you were going to do a review of the Rae Morris brushes? I’ve noticed you are using them a lot and I wanted a little more input before I make a purchase.

  3. Happy birthday! I’ll definitely be stealing this look for my next night out.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, but because this is the only place I can say it and have other people understand what it means – last week my ex announced his engagement, but I picked up the Tom Ford Platinum Cream Eyeshadow so I win!

    xx

  4. Happy happy birthday, Karima. Your videos are a ray of sunshine!
I can’t impress upon you the level of jealousy that I am trying to suppress because you own Chanel Notorious. By the time that I heard of it, it had already been discontinued. There’s no true dupes that encompass all of its colors (mauve, gray, taupe, etc). People say NYX Taupe blush but it’s not even close to being a dupe. Pleasepleaseplease tell me that you may know where to get one or an actual true dupe. I’m obsessed. And failing!! Haha.
    But I’m serious…
    πŸ˜‰
Hope you had a fantastic day!!
    Amy

    1. Thank you thank you! I’m glad you like the videos πŸ™‚

I’m afraid there is no exact dupe for Notorious but a product that offers a very similar effect is the Catrice eyeshadow in Starlight Expresso (actually very cheap but might be hard to find if you’re not in Europe). It’s not baked in texture but it’s a spot on shade for grey contouring.

Some people say NARS Lhasa is a suitable dupe but I think that one is too shimmery for contouring, worth a look though!

  5. Hi Karima,
Beautiful look, as always. Happy birthday! My most recent birthday look consisted of bleached brows, smoky eyes, and 4th day hair :\ I looked like I was in need of sleep, a good wash, and maybe rehab.
Did you find the Tom Ford lipstick formula meh across all (or most) shades? Do the darker/more vibrant shades perform better?
And an unrelated question, what ring light do you use to film?
    Thanks!

    1. Hey Amy πŸ™‚

LOL @ rehab. I’m finding that my hangovers last three days instead of one, nowadays, I must be getting old.

I do think the vibrant shades perform a little better but overall, I think it’s quite a heavy formula on the lips. Also, if you have any flaky patches of vertical lip lines, they’re not the most flattering. Pity because I do really like the shades.

My ring light was purchased off Ebay. It’s mostly a fill light, the vast majority of my lighting comes from Octagonal Softboxes.

      xx

  6. First of all, Happy Birthday! I’ve been following your blog since early January and I must say, it’s so much better than any other blog out here!
Second of all, do you ink that Bobbi Brown’s eyeshadow in Heather would be a good dupe for Chanel’s Notorious?

Keep up the good work with your blog!

    -Julia C.

    1. Hey Julia!
So flattered that you like the blog πŸ˜€

I don’t own Heather but based on the online swatches, I think it looks more mauve when compared to Notorious. I mentioned below in another comment that a suitable alternative would be Catrice Starlight Expresso, but it’s not widely available outside of europe (not sure where you are).

  7. Happy birthday Karima! I loved this tutorial. I hadn’t seen black grape pigment before. I think I need to get some. BTW, have you ever seen a good substitute for Chanel Notorious? Everyone seems to like using bronzers for contour, but if you are very fair shadows are actually grey, not bronze.

    1. Hey Eleanor!

      Thank you for your wishes!

A few people below have asked for Notorious dupes and I can’t say there is an exact replica on the market, sadly πŸ™ I do think that a suitable alternative would be Catrice Starlight Expresso (I’ve used this in my drugstore tutorial), but it’s not widely available outside of europe (not sure where you are).

      xx

  8. Happy birthday (certainly too late)…

Karima, what do you think of the brow pen from Stila? I’m going to London in 2 weeks and I don’t know if I’m going to invest in the Suqqu brown pen or the stila one… :/. I’m blond and I always struggle to find a good color match for my eyebrows… Thanks for your answer :)!

    1. The upload was late, too πŸ™‚ I’m actually born in October!
Is Stila widely available in your country? If so, I say go for SUQQU because it’s comparatively hard to find and London is one of few stockists.
I’ve been meaning to do a post comparing the two (I know, I know, empty promises) but I don’t think it will be up in the next two weeks.
      xx

      1. Hey thanks for the answer!
Actually None of the two brands are available in my country :’). I live in Belgium. I have very small brows (and blond. Great.) maybe I should try Moss Green?

  9. happy birthday karima!
Just wondering where you got the boreal true match in shade W2 from in australia. They don’t seen to stock it in priceline. I’m using it in N2 but its not yellow enough for me.
