A video compilation of my recent loves. Frequently my looks lean quite warm, here is a tutorial for those who love cooler shades!

SUQQU EX-11 Sumiredama makes an appearance (swatches here), paired with a rose cheek and an angelic pink lip.

Hello, everyone. Today's tutorial is an excuse for me to show you a bunch of products that I have been really exciting me lately. It has amounted to a purple smokey eye. I've used this eye shadow quad from SUQQU spring collection. I apologize in advanced. This quad is hideously hard to find. But if you are crazy, like myself, and have your heart set on this palette, I will list the stockers below. As always my looks are conceptual. You don't need these exact same products. If you have a purple eye shadow, you're good to go. Right, so I'm going to start with my base. I've been on a bit of foundation kick lately. Today's contender is the Laura Mercier Silk Cream. Now this has a medium to full coverage, which is a little bit heavier than I generally prefer for myself. But it's easily sheered out by a damp beauty blender.

I'd say that the finish of this foundation is somewhere between dewy and satin so not quite matte enough to be satin but it doesn't have a full on glow. And I'd say it's probably best for normal to dry skin types. Okay, I'm going to let that settle in the skin. I'm going to start on the eyes. My favorite shade in the SUQQU palette is the purple shade which is all delicious and duo chromy. I'm taking that shade all over the lid, also on the lower lash line about three quarters of the way in. Then taking the taupe shade or any taupe shade you happen to own, I'm going to blend that in to the crease. To perfect our gradient and make this color combo a little more complex, I'm going to take the pink shade just above the taupe, not quite on the brow bone. Lightly dusting that.

I'm also going to take a little bit of this on the lower lash line to diffuse the purple shade. Now with smokey eyes, it's quite important to highlight the inner tear duct to avoid looking sickly. I'm using the pale gold shade in the quad to do this. Also I'm going to pop the teeny bit in to the brow. I feel like wearing false lashes today. So I'm going to apply a little bit of black liquid liner to conceal the lash bend to come. Nothing fancy, no wings. Just getting it as close to the lash line as I can. As always I'm tight lining my upper lash line just to pull the eye liner together. This condenses the lash line. Next, I'm going to pop on some mascara. This is Lancome Hypnose, old favorite. I've been using this one since I was about 16. I like to wiggle the wand at my roots and keep wiggling right to the tip. This provides extra separation and volume.

Tan tana nanan… Shu Uemura's smokey layers, these are one of my all time favorite false lashes. They're quite full and bold and fluffy but they're not long, so they don't hit my forehead every time I blink. Carrying on with the rest of the face, I'm going to conceal my under eye shadows really well. This is a crucial step to pulling off a smokey eye. We want the dark shade to be confined to the eye shadow not the entire under eye area or things can start to look very tired very quickly. So taking that little bit down on to my cheek, just dabbing in with the finger, then lightly dusting with some translucent powder just to set everything in place and to also prepare this skin for powder blusher. The eye look today is decidedly cool tone.

So going with the grain, I've chosen a cool tone blush. This is a muted rosy shade with a hint of mauve. I'm just going to dust that on the sides of the cheeks so not quite on the apples. That blush was entirely matte so I'm going to add a little bit of highlighter just to the tops of my cheek bones. I wanted to focus on the eyes so I've chosen a soft angelic pink, also by SUQQU. This is my first lipstick from SUQQU but definitely not my last. The texture is to die for. And that completes our purple smokey eye tutorial. I know I'm really late to the game but Shameless Fripperies is now on Instagram. You can find me at Shameless Fripperies. I hope you have a wonderful day. See you later.

    1. My pleasure šŸ™‚ I was tossing whether or not to get EX13 but I might give it a miss. Been accumulating way too much makeup lately!

  1. I’m feeling very smug and pleased with myself that I have this quad on the way!
Your look is flawless and beautiful, as always!
(Also I’m pleased to have discovered your blog!)

  2. Such a pretty look, I went obsessed with finding this eye shadow palette after seeing this and finally today I have seen it on eBay and just ordered it. Hope it comes soon, I can’t resist purples, and a duochromish purple… No way.

  3. I want this so badly, but I just cannot justify the shipping to the US for the Suqqu ex-11. ::sigh:: I guess I will just watch you play with it and live vicariously through you instead šŸ˜€

  4. Hi Karima,

This is such a beautiful look. Thank you so much for the lovely tutorial!

Do you prefer the LM SC or GA Lasting Silk? I’m interested in trying both but would love to hear your opinion on how they compare to each other.

    Cheers,
    Jen

    1. Hi Jen,
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it šŸ™‚
LM SC and GA Lasting are very different foundations. LM SC has a fuller coverage while the GA is medium. I think the biggest difference is silicone content- the Lasting Silk is very high in silicones and applies silky, it fills in the appearance of pores and smoothes texture. The LM SC has a more traditional foundation texture and would probably be better for drier skins.
I’ll be doing reviews of the Armani Foundations soon!
      Hope this helps. xx

  5. That was so helpful! Thanks for your response. I definitely prefer the sound of the GA to the LM. Can’t wait to your reviews šŸ™‚
